My Top 10 P2P Filesharing Sites

I have read so many top 10 P2P site lists over the years. Here is my list … have fun and happy filesharing! In no particular order …

  1. Torrentspy – This site is a search engine for torrents. It isn’t a tracker, but it searches many different trackers and gives you results from all of them in a nice easy interface. There are many, many different kinds of torrents from anime, to movies, to games. Some of the torrents aren’t very reliable, so watch out for the torrent comments. People will not forget to bitch when something doesn’t work as expected.
  2. TV TORRENTS – There used to be a couple other bit torrent sites for TV shows that have since gone under, but TV TORRENTS has been a very nice replacement. It is a member only site, but membership is free and anyone can sign up. The only drawback to leechers maybe the fact that it is ratio based. You need to upload to be able to download. They are very generous though, and currently the ratio is 1:1.5. For each megabyte you upload, you get 1.5 megs. The torrents are also very reliable. There are no fake seeds and peers that plague many public trackers.
  3. Xbox-Sky -This is by far the best Xbox bit torrent site. The speeds on well seeded torrents are decent and you can also request for torrents. They get releases out fast as well and also provide homebrew software and documentation releases. Xbox-Sky is also a membership and ratio-based tracker.
  4. MV Group – This is the best documentary site out there. Although they host their torrents on public trackers, you will be informed of their releases on MV Group’s site first. If you like your documentaries like I do, MV Group is right up your alley with PBS, National Geographic, BBS, and Independent documentaries.
  5. NewTorrents.info – They claim to be “your 0 day source”, but more often than not, you will find newer releases on other sites. They also don’t have very many torrents or their own tracker. I visit them because they usually will have a list of the popular torrents and releases
  6. Pornbits – This is an all porn membership and ratio-based tracker. If you like your pr0n, you belong here.
  7. IRCSpy -This is Torrentspy’s sister site. The only difference is the fact that IRCSpy crawls IRC Networks instead of Bit Torrent sites. Check out my brief IRC File Sharing tutorial.
  8. Filedonkey – Filedonkey indexes eDonkey files and puts it in a nice simple searchable interface. It is not very complete though. Your best bet for a more complete search is to connect to a big tracker and search within your eDonkey or eMule client.
  9. The Pirate Bay – Pirate Bay is a huge Swedish (but in English) Bit Torrent site. They have releases of all kinds, but unlike Torrentspy, it is it’s own tracker. Watch out for unreliable files though.
  10. LinuxTracker – This is a must for any Linux fan. Download your ISOs through here and lighten the load off of mirrors. It’s also almost always faster to download Linux ISOs through Bit Torrent.

Other Notable Sites:

  • Mininova
  • NewNova – Suprnova revived. I personally think Suprnova and now NewNova are irrelevant now with all the quality torrent sites out there. Sloncek was a punk anyway. I hear the Suprnova fanboys coming!
  • 10Mbit
  • Packetnews
  • BoxTorrents
  • Demonoid

I’ll list some more when I remember them.

Do you have another great BT site? Feel free to comment.

    Hey,
your list is by no means helpful. You are listing only torrents' sites instead of pure P2P sites!!!
  • Nice list. Check out http://btjunkie.org. Some of the more popular torrents are locked (you have to buy membership for that...yeah right!), but there are tons of torrents that can be found on that.

I will definitely check out TVTorrents.
